elizaspangEliza is responsible for the long-term advancement of the game-like integrated learning model pioneered by the Institute of Play—its continued evolution in existing learning contexts and its expansion and adaptation in new contexts, such as the upper schools at Quest to Learn and ChicagoQuest. Eliza comes to the Institute of Play and Quest to Learn with over 13 years of experience in education. She began her career in education as a high school science teacher at Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School in Hamilton, MA and then moved to San Marin High School in Novato, CA. After earning her PhD in Curriculum and Teacher Education from Stanford University School of Education, she worked as a teacher educator, educational consultant and researcher in California, Massachusetts and New York. She presents at national conferences regularly and was an adjunct professor at Hunter College. Eliza’s research interests are science teacher education, professional development and the use of scientific inquiry in classrooms.
