Eric Cantor is CEO of New Mountain Learning (NML), a diversified blended learning solutions company serving select segments of the secondary, post-secondary, and career readiness markets. Since joining NML in 2012, Eric’s primary focus has been on building a sustainable platform for growth and value creation, while transforming the company from a print publisher to a fully digital learning solutions company. Overseeing the company’s strategic direction, resource investment, talent management, and key partnerships, Eric provides unifying leadership for NML’s K-12 and Higher Education businesses.

Eric has held a number of executive and management positions in education, professional development & training, information and media services and consumer products.  Prior to joining New Mountain Learning, Eric spent six years at the College Board, a mission-driven not-for-profit organization that connects students to college success and opportunity. As senior vice-president of College Readiness, he oversaw all K-12 education programs (assessments, curriculum, professional development, guidance publications and district transformation services) designed to prepare students for college and career success.  Prior to that position, he served as senior vice president of Region and Account Services, overseeing the College Board’s work with educators and administrators in colleges, universities, school districts and state government.

Prior to the College Board, Eric served as president and CEO of Kaplan Professional, a division of Kaplan Inc. and subsidiary of the Washington Post, providing employee training, professional education and compliance management services to corporate clients and to individuals preparing for licensing exams or seeking continuing education in a variety of professional education markets. During his six-year tenure at Kaplan, he oversaw the acquisition and integration of seventeen businesses and, in combination with base business growth, doubled revenues and tripled operating income. In addition, from 2004 to 2005, Eric served as president and CEO of SCORE!, the company’s K-10th grade supplemental after-school retail education division.  Prior to joining Kaplan, Eric held senior level product management, sales, marketing and business planning positions with the McGraw-Hill Companies, NutriSystem Inc., and PepsiCo Inc.

Throughout his career, Eric has served on the boards of a number of small to mid-sized organizations, in the not-for-profit and for-profit sectors. He is currently a regent of the American Architectural Foundation, having served as its chairman in 2007 and 2008, and an advisory board member of Roadtrip Nation, Tootelage Inc., and Carnegie Learning. 

Eric received a BA in history from Haverford College and an MBA in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  He currently resides in Radnor, PA., a suburb of Philadelphia, with his wife Linda where together they raised their two children, Franklyn, age 26, and Sydney, age 22.
