tom-collin1Tom Collin has been acquiring, operating and setting up for-profit K-12 international schools on three continents over the last 11 years.

Following a career in banking and private equity in Europe, Tom joined Meritas, a firm founded by Sterling Partners and a pioneer in the K-12 space, in 2005. He led international acquisitions (Mexico, Switzerland), ran the largest proprietary international school in Europe (Collège du Léman, Geneva) and founded the firm’s first school in Asia (Chengdu, China).

In 2010 he joined BE Education, a premier British-owned education company in Shanghai, China as COO and head of the schools division. There, he charted the company’s move into the international high school segment and launched two boarding schools aimed at the Chinese market, in Chengdu and Changzhou (capacities 800 and 1,500 respectively).

In his most recent position as CEO for Malaysia of GEMS Education, the world’s largest private K-12 operator, he led the company’s market entry and launched four schools – 2 pilot kindergartens and 2 schools with capacities for 1,500 and 2,400 students respectively.

While supporting his wife, an MIT Sloan Fellow, Tom is currently an industry advisor to several top-tier private equity firm, and mentor to entrepreneurs in EdTech and Tech. Tom is a graduate of the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, Middlesex University (UK) and Neoma (France).
