The LearnLaunch BOOST program is a three-month program designed to help early stage edtech entrepreneurs successfully grow their startups. Founders participate in a residential program in Boston, Massachusetts, where they are immersed in a community of like-minded professionals committed to helping them grow their businesses. The goal of LearnLaunch BOOST is to advance the product and market development process so that entrepreneurs will be able to secure the resources they need to grow. LearnLaunch provides seed funding ($20k for 6% plus potentially up to $50k in additional funding) for companies selected to its cohort. Participating companies meet weekly with mentors who push them to identify and take the most leveraged next steps to grow their products and companies. During the program, companies regularly interact with leading edtech experts. BOOST has also developed an edtech-focused curriculum that provides tremendous insight into how to navigate the education industry.
During the first month we work with companies to test their key assumptions and then develop an individual work plan. During the second month, founders work with their mentors on company-specific issues, such as customer interaction, user interface design, and product development. In the final month of the program, founders develop an action plan, including strategies for launching their product, expanding their company, and pitching to investors. The program culminates with presenations at the LearnLaunch Accelerator Demo Day in June.
LearnLaunch continues to guide and support companies for three months after they finish the accelerator program to help them grow their startups into thriving companies.
The BREAKTHROUGH Program is a distilled four-week boot camp, designed to help edtech companies that are beyond seed stage.

For companies with a bit more traction, LearnLaunch Accelerator’s BREAKTHROUGH Program is designed to help early stage education technology companies by providing critical access to strategic partners and financing entities. Your company is beyond seed stage, and we realize that as you gain momentum it becomes more difficult to join our campus for an extended period. That’s why BREAKTHROUGH is structured to provide assistance specific to the needs of your company, and to provide it in a condensed and intensive timeframe.
We do more upfront before your arrival, so that we can provide a distilled four-week boot camp while you’re here. During the pre-accelerator phase of the program, we will start introducing you to our mentor and partner network and will create a personalized four week plan for your company. During the accelerator program, you will be meeting regularly with your mentors and lead LearnLaunch partner to make sure you are hitting your goals and milestones. The program culminates with presentations at the LearnLaunch Conference in February.
Beyond introductions, we can help you leverage those connections to your greatest advantage. LearnLaunch Accelerator provides intensive company-specific workshops in areas such as business model optimization, finance, and product roadmapping. Success is about being prepared when opportunity strikes. BREAKTHROUGH helps you prepare for exceptional opportunities. Companies accepted into the Breakthrough program receive up to $120k in funding.

DO YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?
Q. CAN YOU PROVIDE MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE ACCELERATOR PROGRAM?
A. LearnLaunch Accelerator is the leading edtech startup accelerator. After a highly selective application process, LearnLaunch Accelerator provides the most promising edtech startups worldwide with seed funding, an unmatched team of mentors, intensive coaching and all the tools needed to grow a successful edtech startup.
LearnLaunch Accelerator is located in Boston, and provides two programs customized to the edtech entrepreneur. The Boost Accelerator program is a three-month residential program designed to help early stage entrepreneurs successfully grow their startups. The Breakthrough Accelerator Program is a distilled four-week bootcamp designed to help edtech companies that are beyond seed stage.
LearnLaunch Accelerator expects to hold one Breakthrough program each fall and one Boost program each spring.
Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN YOUR BOOST AND BREAKTHROUGH PROGRAMS?
A. The Breakthrough program is for more established edtech startups. Usually these companies have revenues in the past 12 months far greater than $100k or international companies looking to move to the States. These companies have achieved significant market traction with one product and typically join Breakthrough to work on their scaling strategy. Our Boost program is for earlier stage startups that are still searching for product-market fit. They may have revenue, but need help with the go to market strategy.
Q. WHY SHOULD MY COMPANY JOIN THE LEARNLAUNCH ACCELERATOR PROGRAM?
A. The LearnLaunch Accelerator program helps grow the capabilities and reputation of your company in a structured learning environment with other emerging edtech leaders and experienced education entrepreneurs. Great connections, access to capital, a unique curriculum, and a cohort experience. And it’s a lot of fun.
Q. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN LEARNLAUNCH ACCELERATOR AND LEARNLAUNCH INSTITUTE?
A. LearnLaunch Accelerator is an accelerator program for edtech companies that are selected through a rigorous application process. LearnLaunch Institute is a non-profit, which focuses on connecting and supporting Boston’s edtech community. It offers classes, peer group learning, conferences, networking opportunities and other educational services to all individuals and organizations seeking to work with educators, students and families to enable the growth and success of the edtech and learning ecosystem.
Q. ARE THERE DEMO DAYS?
A. Yes. The Breakthrough companies will showcase at the LearnLaunch Across Boundaries conference. Both Breakthrough and Boost companies will pitch at our annual Demo Day in June.
Q. DOES MY COMPANY FALL INTO THE EDTECH CATEGORY?
A. We accept a variety of companies in the education technology space focused on early education, K-12, higher education, adult learning and corporate training. Check out the descriptions of the prior cohorts here to get a better sense of the diversity of the LearnLaunch Accelerator portfolio of companies.
Q. HOW LARGE DOES MY TEAM HAVE TO BE TO APPLY?
A. There are no constraints on team size, but generally companies that apply have 2-8 team members.
Q. CAN I APPLY IF I DON’T LIVE IN THE UNITED STATES?
A. Yes, all entrepreneurs in edtech from all countries are encouraged to apply. Accepted companies must be able to prove that all members of their team have legal permission to live and work in the United States for the duration of the accelerator program. We have accepted entrepreneurs from Europe, Israel, Jordan and India.
Q. CAN I APPLY IF I DON’T HAVE A PROTOTYPE/BETA?
A. For applicants to our Breakthrough program, you will be required to have a product in the market. For our Boost program, it is not a requirement to have a prototype or beta, but your application will be stronger if you do. It is rare for us to accept a company that is just an idea.
Q. WHY SHOULD A COMPANY JOIN LEARNLAUNCH ACCELERATOR INSTEAD OF ANOTHER ACCELERATOR PROGRAM?
A. Education is a very large but highly regulated sector. Our partners and mentors have extensive industry experience and deep connections to the major strategic and financial players. Our program is designed to prepare edtech startups for market entry and raising capital. It is all about offering companies a personalized experience that lasts well beyond that time you are in our accelerator programs.
Q. WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS NOW?
A. Education is at a crossroads. Pressure to improve K-12 outcomes, college access and persistence, and career readiness is intense. Today’s teachers and students are familiar with a wide range of technologies and the costs of creating learning solutions that incorporate technology has dropped significantly. These combined factors present a unique opportunity for change. We believe we have the right team to vet, cultivate and prepare companies that will create value to the learning system.
Q. HOW ARE SCHOOLS, PARENTS, TEACHERS AND ADMINISTRATORS INVOLVED?
A. They participate as mentors and advisors to the accelerator companies.
Q. MY COMPANY WAS NOT ACCEPTED TO THE LAST PROGRAM. CAN I REAPPLY?
A. Yes, your company is welcome to reapply. It is helpful to demonstrate progress and milestones reached since the last time your company applied. Multiple times in the past we have accepted companies that were previously rejected.
Q. ARE TEAMS REQUIRED TO RELOCATE TO BOSTON?
A. For the Boost program, we require the management team to move to Boston for the entire duration of the accelerator program. For the Breakthrough program we require at least one senior leader (preferably the CEO) to be in Boston for our program. We want to work with the people who are committed to growing your startup.
Q. OUR COMPANY IS A NON-PROFIT. CAN WE APPLY?
A. Yes, all companies in the edtech industry are welcome to apply.
Q. IF WE HAVE ALREADY TAKEN SOME FUNDING, CAN WE STILL APPLY?
A. Yes, companies that already have some funding may apply. If accepted, the equity terms may need to be adjusted.
